Stryk by BUX
Redesigning the social side of investing
The challenge
Stryk by BUX (Old BUX X) was a stock trading app based on CFDs (Contracts for Difference), designed to make the financial market more accessible for beginners.
With a bold and unconventional visual style, BUX aimed to stand out from traditional brokers and introduce new users to investing while promoting safety through clear limitations and user education. As the app grew across Europe, the challenge was to keep improving the experience while staying true to its mission and unique voice.
My role
As a Product Designer at BUX, I worked closely with another designer during my first years at the company to enhance the live product.
I focused primarily on the social features of the app, including the redesign of the Profile and Chat areas, with the goal of making them more intuitive, engaging, and community-driven.
I also took the lead in creating a Design System that documented existing patterns and components to streamline future development and ensure consistency across the platform.
The approach
We adopted a continuous, user-centered design process. Starting with hypothesis generation and validation through user research and prototype testing.
We organized several in-house testing sessions with real users to brainstorm, observe behavior, and gather feedback, which became a key part of our product decisions. Alongside this, I iterated on designs and collaborated with product and engineering to refine interactions and ship improvements.
The new Design System helped us move faster and keep the UI consistent as new features were introduced. It also served as a foundation for experimentation and improvement within the app’s visual and functional identity.
Outcome and impact
The improvements helped strengthen BUX X’s unique position in the market by enhancing community features and streamlining the overall experience. The Design System increased development speed and maintained consistency as the product scaled.
Although BUX X was decommissioned on October 12, 2023, the work done during its active years contributed to shaping BUX’s design maturity and helped inform the direction of future products within the company.
